I'm Pho (or PhoMakesStuff), a 3D artist based in the UK. Coming from a creative background in film-making and 3D art, I've created Hiyoko, a creative project that invites you to a realm of mystery and magic inhabited by a colourful cast of characters. It's a project designed with the intent to allow imaginations to run wild by implying stories through interesting character designs. If a design lends itself to intrigue, like “why does a Hopson wear a rabbit hat?” Or “why does Koi submerge his head in a fishbowl?”, then those engaging with the design now let their minds wander and imagine their own answers. They conjure up their own personalized version of Hiyoko unique to them.

That relationship is an important part of my process, as a core value of mine is that we must protect our childlike wonder, even as we age. When designing characters, I'll include elements that fit within the larger world of Hiyoko but also with the intention of encouraging intrigue in those engaging with the art. This process almost always seems to yield positive results, pushing me to create appealing designs that resonate with a growing audience.
